Companion Botanical Closeup: Arnica

The next feature in our Companion Botanical series is Arnica montana. Arnica is a member of the Asteraceae family of plants, similar to Helichrysum and German Chamomile, and yet another herb formulated into our CVD 1:1 Salve and our Ceres Natural Remedies Hemp Infused Salve. This trio of asters (we like to refer to as the “three sisters”) form the foundation for anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects in our salve recipes. Arnica has long been a remedy for external, local healing, and a specific for treatment of sprains, bruises, arthritis affecting the hands and knees, and inflammatory skin conditions. The primary active ingredient is helenalin, a sesquiterpene lactone, that research has shown to be a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. It is also a toxin when consumed internally in certain amounts, so care must be...

The essential oils of these two botanicals figure prominently in our base salve recipe which is used for both our Hemp Infused Salve and our dispensary's 1:1 Salve. On the label of these products, the chamomile oil is listed as blue chamomile…what’s the rub?...

Companion Botanical Closeup: Helichrysum

There are over 600 species in the Helichrysum genus, a member of the Asteraceae family. It takes it name from the Greek “helios” meaning sun and “chrysos” meaning gold, a tribute to the radiant, golden flowers exhibited by many of the species within the genus. We utilize the essential oil of the species Helichrysum italicum, also known as Immortelle, in both our CVD 1:1 Salve and our Ceres Natural Remedies Hemp Infused Salve. This species is known for its broad therapeutic functions, most notably it’s analgesic and anti-inflammatory qualities. It also contains  high levels of neryl acetate, a compound that supports the regeneration of cells and tissue, a main reason why it has been traditionally used to promote healthy formation of scar tissue. Reputed to support...

Brand Ambassador Bio: Clarissa Finks

Pro cyclist Clarissa Finks left behind her dream job at Burton Snowboards in 2018 to better pursue her mountain biking career. Today she races mountain bikes professionally for the Giant and Liv Co-factory Team and for local Vermont bike shop Earl’s Cyclery. She is a mentor for Vermont’s Little Bellas program and an advocate for the cycling community at large. Clarissa grew up in Maine, eventually attending the University of Vermont. Much to the dismay of her “mountain biking momma,” she did not start riding bikes on dirt until she was a senior in college. Clarissa started riding and racing on the same day when a friend on the UVM Cycling Team approached her with an offer: “We have a race this weekend...
