Formulating for Effect: Our New Relax, Restore & Revitalize CBD Drops

Since 2013, our sister company, Champlain Valley Dispensary, has provided state-registered medical cannabis patients with unsurpassed plant-based medicine and consultative care. Ceres has grown out of this rich experiential knowledge and commitment to education. It gives us a strong foundation for the development of effective products and the ability to provide our customers with expert guidance when navigating product choices.

It is with great excitement that we announce the launch of our new line of CBD Drops. These Drops have been strategically formulated with proprietary terpene blends to address specific “need states”: Relax, Restore & Revitalize. Each 1oz bottle begins with organic fractionated coconut oil (MCT) infused with 600mg of CBD from full-spectrum hemp extract. To this, we add terpene blends intended to produce a focused, therapeutic effect and flavor. To understand how to properly dose and gain the greatest benefit from these Drops, you’ll need a little more information… read on!

The Entourage Effect

One of the most relevant conversations that we have on a daily basis is the importance of  the “entourage effect.” This is the thesis which states that the combined synergy of multiple cannabis compounds is responsible for distinct physiological or psychological effects rather than a single compound on its own. Research thus far has focused primarily on the combination of cannabinoids and terpenes. The more you know about the presence of these compounds in cannabis products, the better you will be at identifying which ones are best suited to your needs.

What Are Terpenes?

Terpenes are volatile aromatic compounds responsible for the unique flavors and aromas in different cannabis cultivars and many other plants. They serve important functions for plants by attracting pollinators, deterring pests and preventing disease. They also offer potent therapeutic benefits for humans. An example of a terpene found in cannabis and other well-known plants is linalool, commonly found in lavender. Linalool is classified as being both anti-inflammatory and sedative. Plants or products that contain high levels of linalool can, therefore, potentially be better choices for addressing underlying inflammation or help improve sleep hygiene.

Our Terpene Partners:

Our partner in developing our proprietary terpene formulas is Eybna, a terpene technology company based in Tel Aviv, Israel. The Israeli Ministry of Health regulates Israel’s Medical Cannabis Program. The Ministry collects data on the cannabis cultivars that registered patients use to effectively treat specific medical conditions. Eybna analyzes these cultivars using GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) to determine their natural terpene profiles and GC-Olfactory to identify the different molecules that create their unique flavor. They then recreate these profiles using botanically sourced terpenes and other naturally occurring phytochemicals like esters and ketones.  Eybna also blends custom terpene formulations to evoke specific need states. Each blend consists of 40-60 unique terpenes. To learn more about individual terpenes commonly found in cannabis and other plants, review Eybna’s Terpiodic™ Table.
